EXPERIENCE ECHO OF AALTO AT LUX HELSINKI |
For Lux Helsinki 2026, Iittala brings the Aalto vase to life in a new form. Echo of Aalto, created by artist Irene Suosalo, reimagines the iconic silhouette through handcrafted animation loops, video-synth textures and a dynamic soundscape. The installation unfolds like a visual journey, from fiery glass-factory hues to soft, misty forms, capturing movement once frozen in glass. See it on the Espa Stage as the city lights up 6–11 January. |

For the Aalto 90 anniversary year, Iittala invites contemporary artists to reinterpret the iconic Aalto vase through their own creative lens.
The first collaboration features Helsinki-based visual artist Irene Suosalo, known for her distinctive animation and video art that blends retro aesthetics with experimental techniques. Named Finland’s Illustrator of the Year in 2022, Suosalo has worked with global brands such as Bottega Veneta, Burberry, The New York Times and Bloomberg, and her works have been exhibited widely across Europe.
Her contribution opens a year of collaborations that will bring fresh, unexpected perspectives to one of Finland’s most beloved design icons — with more artists to be revealed throughout 2026. |
